Ty, back test render by damir-g-martin Ty, back test render by damir-g-martin
Just a test render of my new take on Ty, Dinomonster character.
Intention was to make him look more realistic and bit meaner and serious than the initial one, that looked more stylized.

Thx guys!

Krodil, I agree, and I'l probably try to create some dirt map or something.

Metamorpher, texture is made in zbrush.
i used 2-3 brushes.
1 brush is photo of an elephant skin patch, which I processed in zbrush and made custom brush. the larger scales are modeled by hand.
Lot's of tedious work here..
It can be done faster, but the faster you make skin texture the more generic and artificial it looks.
Im currently playing with sss shaders in max, mental ray.
Need to learn that in order to create realistic and better looking images.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I never thought about using elephant skin to get a dinosaur hide look. Amazing

nice work, good scales. It could be cool with some smaller dirt effects, where scales(objects) meet. the head is really great ;)
